Basics of Skin Care - Ionic Shower
The most important thing you can do to preserve your skin, is taking care of it every day for your entire life and not expose it to unnecessary damage.
The signs of skin aging are usually the result of wrong or non-existent skin care. The best thing you can do to preserve your skin is to avoid exposing it to unnecessary stress and damage; this will help you build a solid and healthy basement for any anti aging treatments your skin might need.
The results of anti aging treatments applied on a healthy skin will be very good, far better than what you would obtain applying the treatments on a poorly maintained skin. Remember that the skin is very complicated. Skin damage is often unnoticeable with the naked eye.
Hot Water
Hot showers, besides giving you a wonderful sensation, hurt your skin. This doesn't mean you have to use cold water, but just don't make it too hot. Moreover, for a better skin care, you should avoid taking more than one shower a day with warm water.
Protection from the Sun
Most people know that sun rays and tanning beds aren't good for skin aging and skin cancer. Always keep in mind that sun damage is mostly irreversible: a lot of sunscreens don't offer enough protection against the sun.
Makeup
The eye area, which is one of the areas where the application of makeup is consistent, is one of the most subject to skin aging.
Most makeup products, specially those which promise long lasting effects, contain skin irritants and moreover additional irritants are required to remove them.
Soap
You should pay particular attention to the soap you use: they differ in the substances in them, and these substances can have different effects on your skin.
Ionic soaps have are worst for your skin. You should try to replace these detergents with non ionic soaps.
Skin Inflammation
Our body reacts to infections, abrasions and burns and with inflammation.
Inflammation is not the cause but the effect of something. Acne is surely the most frequent skin inflammation. All of us have dealt with it at least once.
But there's a huge variety of skin inflammation: often treatments to cure inflammation can damage our skin. Since we all react differently to treatments you should make sure that your reaction to a treatment isn't causing you skin damage.
Cleansing
Sebum protects your skin. Excessive cleansing may lead to skin sensitivity, dryness or irritation because you risk to remove too much sebum leaving your skin unprotected.
Alcohol based cleansers are recommended if your skin is very oily.
Exfoliating
New skin cells are created in the dermis, the lower layer of the skin. Cells then migrate to the surface of the skin and in roughly 30 days they die. Exfoliation is the process of removing the outer layer to reveal the newer skin cells beneath.
This shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, helps reduce acne breakouts and keeps skin clean.
Exfoliation should always be done after cleansing the skin. It is very easy to excessively exfoliate your skin making it dry and irritated.
